Maryland’s Eighth Congressional District is primarily composed of Montgomery County, with a small part of Prince George’s County also included.  The current incumbent is Democrat Chris Van Hollen, a party machine politician eyeing a future senate run.  Congressman Van Hollen also spends excessive time outside the district trying to defeat Republicans in tight congressional races in his role as Chairman of the Democratic Congressional Campaign Committee (DCCC).  The Maryland Eighth is thus unique in that we're not just going after one Democrat, but an effective campaign against Van Hollen would force him to spend time defending his seat and improve the chances for Republicans to regain the House of Representatives.  Brian Mezger takes this role extremely seriously, and would treat the campaign as one with national implications.  Your critical support is therefore not just for a local race, but will be magnified many times across America.
