BORDER SECURITY, NO AMNESTY FOR ILLEGALS If America can put a man on the Moon, we can secure our borders. What is lacking is the political will. Border security is not incidental to the immigration debate - it is central. A secure border will greatly reduce illegal immigration, as well as reduce the risk of terrorism. Brian Mezger opposes an amnesty for illegal aliens. Our immigration enforcement agencies must be given the resources to physically remove those who don’t belong here. America will remain a welcoming place for those legal immigrants who obey our laws and play by the rules. IRAQ Brian Mezger stands for no cut-and-run in Iraq, getting the job done and bringing the troops home. Simply withdrawing would result in disaster, and the country would become a terrorist safe haven as Afghanistan was. Our policy should be to draw down combat troops as local troops step up to the plate. We will remain engaged in Iraq through advisors and special forces. A stable, democratic Iraq is an essential element to peace in the Middle East and to the broader generational struggle against Muslim extremist terrorism. We must honor our veterans, and do everything that a grateful nation can to give thanks for their great scarifices. If we remain united, we will prevail. Back to Top |

THE WAR ON TERROR 9/11 was our generation’s Pearl Harbor and a similar terrorist outrage must never happen again. Brian Mezger believes our intelligence services and military must be given the resources to succeed without being hamstrung by antiquated laws. Civil liberties of Americans can be respected while a relentless pursuit of the war on terror takes place across the globe. We must work closely with our good friends and allies, such as England and Israel. Despite their professed beliefs, terrorists respect no true God or law of man and must be destroyed. PRO-LIFE Life is precious and begins at conception. Brian Mezger opposes abortion and will fight to outlaw this abomination that stains the fabric of our society. States' rights are of great importance, and amendments to the Constitution must not be made lightly, but this tragedy in particular warrants a constitutional amendment to safeguard the lives of millions of unborn children. NO REDEFINITION OF MARRIAGE Marriage is between one man and one woman. Brian Mezger opposes any attempt to redefine marriage, or stealth alternatives such as civil unions. Tolerance does not require fundamental change to our oldest and most venerable institutions. Brian Mezger strongly supports the enacted federal Defense of Marriage Act. Back to Top |

LOW TAXES, REIN IN BLOATED GOVERNMENT Your money belongs in your pocket. As Governor Bob Ehrlich noted in the 2006 campaign, "Brian Mezger will work hard for your family's financial security." The Alternative Minimum Tax (AMT) and the Estate (Death) Tax must both be permanently eliminated, and lower tax rates overall will propel the economy. Some version of the Flat or Fair Tax should be considered. The hugely bloated size of the federal government has to be greatly reduced, and socialized medicine would be the worst way to promote this goal. What is needed instead in health care and Social Security is more personal choice and flexibility not under the direct control of the government. Abusive congressional "earmarks" must be suppressed, and the budget balanced. Low taxes and limited government move America forward. Democrat tax and spend puts America into reverse gear. HONOR THE SECOND AMENDMENT The right to bear arms is primarily to deter tyrannical government and not just for recreational hunting. Liberals also don't understand that a law-abiding, well-armed citizenry is our best defense against criminals. The right to bear arms is fundamental to our nation. We must not only be vigilant against its erosion, but also actively seek to roll back outrageous restrictions. Brian Mezger is a proud member of the National Rifle Association. Back to Top |

ENERGY INDEPENDENCE The critical reason to achieve energy independence is to free ourselves from having to import oil from undesirable countries. Brian Mezger imagines an America fueled by clean and sustainable domestic energy such as wind, solar and hydrogen. Before we achieve that goal, interim steps such as enhanced domestic oil production, clean coal and nuclear will help reduce our addiction to foreign oil. Back to Top |
